Extended Stay Rentals in San Antonio: What to Look for
Planning a stay of 14 days or more in San Antonio? The features that matter most in a furnished extended-stay rental, from kitchen setup to workspace.

A stay of two weeks or more in a vacation rental reveals things a short trip never will. The novelty of a beautifully photographed kitchen fades when you realize it only has one functional burner and no pantry space. A comfortable bed matters less after week one than a chair you can actually sit in while working. Extended stays require a different checklist from weekend trips, and the properties that hold up well under longer occupation share specific traits.
The kitchen is the most important room for extended stays
For stays over two weeks, you will cook the majority of your meals. That means a kitchen equipped for actual cooking: at least four burners, an oven, a full-size refrigerator, a coffee setup, and enough cookware to prepare real food rather than just reheating. Check the listing for specific kitchen equipment, not just "fully equipped kitchen," which can mean almost anything.
De Soto in Universal City has what the listing calls a chef's kitchen, with full cooking appliances, a spacious layout, and counter space for food prep. Grass Hollow in Live Oak lists an induction stove, air fryer, crockpot, and griddle specifically, which is the kind of detail that distinguishes a property built for extended stays from one that installed a kitchenette as an afterthought.
Workspace quality matters more than you expect
Remote workers doing extended stays quickly discover the difference between a property with a dedicated desk in a quiet room and one where "workspace" means a dining chair pulled up to the kitchen table. If you are working during the stay, look for a dedicated office or desk space in a room that can be separated from living areas.
De Soto has a dedicated large office, which is uncommon in the vacation rental inventory for the Universal City area. The Collins Garden Studios have purpose-built workspaces in each unit, with 1,000 Mbps fiber internet available at The Crashpad complex.
Laundry is non-negotiable for stays over two weeks
In-unit laundry (not shared laundry in a common area) is the standard to hold for any extended stay. Having to leave the property with laundry bags every few days adds friction that accumulates over a month. All Hosted Havens properties sized for extended stays include in-unit washer and dryer.
Air conditioning and climate control
San Antonio in summer and early fall runs hot. Extended-stay properties need reliable central air or dedicated mini-split units that allow room-by-room control. Properties with a single thermostat for the whole house create comfort tradeoffs that become real problems over a multi-week stay, especially if different people in the group have different temperature preferences.
Pricing structure for 30-day-plus stays
Most properties offer a significant discount once you reach their monthly minimum. The exact discount varies, but a standard short-term rental nightly rate often drops 20 to 35 percent at the monthly tier. When comparing options, always price a 30-night booking rather than multiplying a nightly rate, since the monthly price is what you would actually pay.
